Oxford School students reading in the resource centre.

Resource Centre

The Oxford School utilizes the Fountas and Pinnels reading support system for all grades. The staff dedicates these resources, and those in our Library, to support and foster a spirit of inquiry and a love of reading in the school community.

The resource centre provides classes with an alternate learning location and an opportunity to participate in collaborative research activities. Students can engage in quiet group and individual study sessions, read a book in the story time corner, or use one of the study tables to complete school work. Chromebook workstations are available for students as well as a wireless internet connection for students working on personal laptops or other devices.

Students visit the resource centre weekly for story time and to borrow books. The staff teaches library and research skills to the students, as well as foster a love of reading through our progressive reading program. In addition, all students have access both in school and at home to a number of online resources.
